World Eaters Predator Annihilator

Bristol Vanguard’s Escalation League is proving great fun! Although my World Eaters dropped a game against Josh’s Tyranid monstrosities, I managed a win against Stuart’s Red Scorpions and Cai’s Tank Company. The addition of Kharn the Betrayer and some Chaos Spawn have certainly helped, demolishing several tanks between them! July’s 1,000 point army now consists of:

Kharn the Betrayer

Chaos Space Marine Squad (10 men), VOTLW, plus 2x Plasma Guns

17 Chaos Cultists

4 Chaos Spawn with GIANT ARMOUR PLATES (AKA Mark of Nurgle – please don’t hate me – but it’s the only good one)

5 Chaos Space Marine Havocs plus 4x Autocannons

Predator Annihilator with lascannon sponsons

I’m rather pleased with it so far. Kharn accompanies the Cultists, giving them Counter Attack, Fearless and Hatred. They give him 17 extra wounds. The super-fast Spawn head straight for vulnerable units in the enemy’s army, forcing him to deal with them. This gives the infantry time to advance, supported by Autocannons and lascannons. Go team!

On the subject of lascannons, the Predator Annihilator is now finished! (Kharn is not far off either, the finished version of him will be on the blog soon). Here are some pictures:

The finished Predator. Although it's an old model, note the modern Guard Search Light and stowage, the loyalist Marine hatch and Berserker head.

The Chapter badge on the front hatch was achieved by painting around a penny blu-tacked in place and adding spikes. The joy of painting scratches on everything is you don’t need to worry about being too neat.

The Tank number and company markings are a mix of Loyalist Space Marine and Imperial Guard transfers. I’ve highlighted them and then painted paint chips onto them. A coat of matt varnish from a pot applied with a brush protects them before spray varnishing the whole model. Make sure the matt varnish is properly dry before spray varnishing, otherwise it’ll go cloudy.

I’m a big fan of specialised units in 40K, hence all the lascannons. Nothing on this vehicle will be wasted when it fires at something!

What can I say, I really like skulls for faces.

Hey there, I’m a big fan of your use of Chaos plastics to make these Heresy-Era World Eaters. It really sells the look of being halfway on the path of becoming Khorne Berkerzers. I’m sorry if this is a redundant question, but do you mind giving us a tutorial of your paintwork?

Hi Chris! Glad you like them – that’s exactly the look I was going for. I’m working on a tutorial at the moment, but you might have to give me some time to do it properly.

Excellent, I can’t wait! Would it be too much to ask for a post about the colors used? I mean to say, which paints from which company and such. Either way, I eagerly await your tutorial! Hello from Brazil.
